SIA “Skrīveru Saldumi” was founded in early 2006 in Skrīveri.
The idea for founding the company came from Iveta and Normunds Audziši, who took over the candy-making traditions from their parents in Lizums in 1999. In Lizums, the tradition of making Gotiņa candies began in 1959.
Expansion
When the idea of expanding production in Skrīveri began, there were many experienced, long-standing Gotiņa production specialists in Skrīveri who were out of work, including production managers, wrappers, and cooks. Because this craft is highly specific, and the authentic Gotiņa recipe can only be achieved through handcrafting and the right combination of ingredients, such skilled people are the company’s greatest value.
After learning that these professional specialists had lost their jobs, the owners of SIA “Dimdiņi” — Iveta and Normunds Audziši, who already had a Gotiņa production facility in Lizums — decided to expand Gotiņa production and establish a production facility in Skrīveri. By hiring these experienced professionals, they helped preserve the famous Gotiņa production traditions and expertise.
In 2006, another production facility was created in the centre of Skrīveri, at Daugavas iela 82, by renovating the buildings of a former dairy and cheese production facility. In the same year, the “Skrīveru Gotiņa” brand was created.
In this way, Skrīveri preserved its Gotiņa production traditions, and people were able to continue the work they had been doing and mastering for many years.
Skrīveri and Lizums
Skrīveri and Lizums are among the first places in Latvia where Gotiņa production began, and today they continue to produce the traditional “Skrīveru Gotiņa” candies.
In the very beginning, the authentic Gotiņa candy recipe was cooked using fresh milk, sugar, glucose or starch syrup, butter, and vanillin.
Even today, “Skrīveru Saldumi” continues to make traditional “Skrīveru Gotiņa” candies according to this recipe.
We are proud
Today, Skrīveri is a place that can be proud not only of the preserved production of “Skrīveru Gotiņa” candies, but also of the continued development of “Skrīveru Saldumi”. The company produces a wide range of high-quality sweets made from chocolate, dried fruits, nuts, seeds, candied fruits, and other valuable treats.
The company’s motto is: combining the healthy with the sweet.
Every year, new products are introduced to delight and surprise customers with high quality, special newly created ideas, innovative concepts, and flavours. Most of the sweets are handmade, which strengthens the uniqueness of the products and achieves what machines cannot.
Since 2008, the “Emociju Fabrika” sweets workshop has been operating at “Skrīveru Saldumi”, welcoming tourists and school groups and telling the story of Gotiņa candy-making in both Latvia and Skrīveri.
Workshop visitors have the opportunity to try wrapping their own Gotiņa candies exactly as wrappers do in their daily work, as well as to make marzipan figures, learn about new products, and taste them.
Today, “Skrīveru Saldumi” provides jobs for approximately 110 employees.
SIA “Skrīveru Saldumi” entered into agreement No. 17.11-1-L-2024/54 on 7 February 2024 with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia for support under the “SME Innovative Business Development Programme” measure, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Improving production process efficiency to promote exports
SIA “Skrīveru Saldumi” has started the implementation of project No. 24-00-C0LA0402-000050, “Improving production process efficiency to promote exports”.
Investments in product manufacturing equipment and the construction of a new warehouse building will increase production capacity and enable us to ensure product deliveries to export markets.
The eligible project cost amount is EUR 287,375.66, of which public funding makes up 40%, or EUR 114,950.26.
The project is being implemented within the open project application competition of the European Union European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development under the Latvian Rural Development Programme 2014–2020, Measure 4 “Investments in physical assets”, Sub-measure 4.2 “Support for investments in processing”, for SIA “Skrīveru Saldumi” project No. 24-00-C0LA0402-000050, “Improving production process efficiency to promote exports”.

Project support for the development of the company’s digital skills
SIA “Skrīveru Saldumi” has received support for improving employees’ digital skills within the Latvian Digital Accelerator project “Development of digital skills for the development of new products and technologies in Latvian companies”, agreement No. 2.3.1.2.i.0/1/24/I/CFLA/002.
About the project:
The aim of the project is to promote the competitiveness of Latvian companies by developing employees’ digital, automation, and innovation skills.
As part of the project, companies are provided with training in various formats, including short-cycle training programmes, professional development training in cooperation with internationally recognised higher education institutions, and online training on international education platforms. In addition, conferences and informational events are organised, and support is provided for digital transformation and the development of new products and services.
The project strengthens companies’ ability to use digital technologies in business processes, develop digital governance, automation, robotisation, and innovation, while also promoting export development and sustainable business.
